Founded in 1969, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Men’s Crew Club has embodied the motto of Tradition, Teamwork, Excellence. As a member of UNC Sport Clubs and Campus Recreation, the team competes against both Varsity and Club programs across the nation.
The current Michael Nicholls Boathouse on University Lake has provided the team a training home for decades. To continue competing at a high level for current and future rowers, the program needs a new home to grow and flourish for years to come.
The UNC Crew Club recognized 50 years of rowing at Carolina during a reunion weekend in Chapel Hill on March 25-27, 2022. Over 300 attendees, most of which were former members of the men’s and women’s teams, attended the reunion celebrating the team’s past, present, and future. Highlights included an inaugural induction ceremony for the Order of the Golden Oar, which recognized founding members of the club and some of the best men’s and women’s athletes to ever row at UNC. In addition to the Reunion dinner, the UNC Masters hosted a University Lake Boathouse tour and alumni regatta on Friday afternoon.
