Sport Club Fest

- Interested in joining a sport club? Come by Sport Club Fest on FDOC and talk to one of our 42 sport clubs! There is something for everyone – from lacrosse to taekwondo to ballroom dance!
Aqua Fit Class
- Tuesday, August 18 at the Kessing Outdoor Pool
- 5:00-6:00 PM
- Join us for a special pop-up group fitness class at Kessing Pool! No registration required, all fitness levels welcome.
Dive In Movie
- Tuesday, August 18 at the Kessing Outdoor Pool
- 6:00-9:00 PM
- Cool off after with a dip in the pool and enjoy the Dive In Movie presented by New Student and Family Programs!
Pool Battleship
- Friday, August 21 at the Kessing Outdoor Pool
- 4:30-8:00 PM
- Come participate in Intramural Battleship as part of our Weeks of Welcome kickoff to the semester! Teams of 4 will compete against each other to try and sink their opponent’s boats and be the sole boat left afloat and become the new reigning Battleship champion. Battleship will be held in Kessing Pool, on Friday August 21st with heats starting at 5pm.
Newbie Night
- Friday, August 21 at the Rams Head Recreation Center
- 8:00-11:00 pm
- Newbie or not, come for a festival of climbing! It’s free to attend! If you would like to try climbing, but aren’t ready to make any commitments, this event is for you. UNC Climbing staff will show you the ropes (pun intended) and get you climbing in no time. Come solo or with friends to Rams Head Climbing Wall to try out a new sport. First come, first served so arrive early!
Sunset Stand-Up Paddle Boarding
- Friday, August 21
- Join us for an evening of paddle boarding on Jordan Lake! As a group, we’ll follow a paddle trail out to several islands on the lake, and watch the sunset from the water.
Cane Creek Mountain Hike and Picnic
- Saturday, August 22
- Join us for lunch and an afternoon of hiking near campus at Cane Creek Mountains State Natural Area! As a group, we’ll complete a 2.5 mile loop, stopping along the way to picnic and enjoy the lookout tower atop the Monandock mountain in the park.
Fitness 101

- Nervous about seeming out of place in our facilities? Come learn about our Campus Recreation Facilities in a semi-private setting. Come get acclimated to our fitness spaces, and learn the foundations of how to properly perform foundational strength training movements as well as how to create an exercise split from Campus Recreation’s certified personal trainers!
Tar Heel Group Training

- Tar Heel Group Training is an inclusive small group training program designed to give participants 1 on 1 attention while giving them a sense of community. Our program is designed to enhance fitness through strength, power, and aerobic training as well as improving joint mobility. Our goal is to provide participants of all fitness levels with an intention, progressively linear, and interactive training program!

Climbing Wall Membership & Classes
Housing two climbing walls, Campus Rec offers around 5,000 square feet of climbing as well as a bouldering wall and cave. With highly trained climbing staff, the walls are safe and easy to access, even for those who have never climbed before.

Go on your own adventure! Rent equipment from Carolina Adventures to go on your own expedition like paddleboarding, backpacking, and more.
