Grayson Highlands Backpacking Trip
Join us and immerse yourself in the sub-alpine landscape of the Mount Rogers Area. Grassy windswept balds, punctuated by spiny rock ridges, contrast with the misty, mossy spruce- fir forested summit of Mount Rogers. At 5,729 feet, it is the highest point in Virginia and includes portions of the Appalachian Trail!
Our group will function as a self-reliant community. Instructors will teach you the skills to succeed and give you leadership opportunities along the way. Nightly debriefs, solo time and evening conversations will encourage you to reflect on your experience in the wilderness.
Mt. Rogers proves to be one of our highlights year after year and is truly one of the gems of the southeast with its grassy balds, boulders, and wild ponies! If you sign up for this trip, you should be able to leave by 4pm the day the trip begins. If you have classes or obligations past 4 pm please contact the program manager before signing up for this trip.
