For more than 15 years I have worked in the Experiential Education field, playing, learning and growing with a wide variety of groups and ‘types’ of people. It brings me genuine pleasure to help each of them explore their own answers to the important questions of how and why. A unique blend of career building and personal growth opportunities throughout my life have afforded me opportunities to work with a wide variety of individual as well as group personalities. Growing up in a cattle ranching and rodeo family, allowed me to experience exceptionally solitary work environments with truly tough and rugged circumstances and personalities. Conversely, my time as a United States Army Infantry Soldier offered a variety of insights into very large organizations. From within the ranks, I lived the pros and cons as well as the efficacies and inefficiencies of hierarchical structures in sometimes frighteningly real time. Additionally, I have worked in and on a variety of construction environments and projects throughout my life. I’ve been fortunate enough to gain experience in management level responsibilities as well as in the back breaking, real work with power tools and brutally honest (if not downright ornery) foremen. Those experiences compliment the last 15 or so years working in Higher Education where people’s true feelings and preferences are too often masked by superficial conformity for the sake of maintaining an un-rocked boat. In my opinion, most of those represent missed opportunities for real, substantive growth for everyone involved. Whether facilitating an introductory team building experience focused on camaraderie and ‘get to know you’ activities, or providing an intensely challenging high ropes opportunity to a well-seasoned, team in order to explore the efficiency of their planning and communication, I bring the same level of focused attention. Engaged participants will learn valuable insights about themselves, their group and the roles of each in a fun, light-hearted and out of the ordinary way.
