Equestrian

The Equestrian Team of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill competes in IHSA events against other schools from across the Southeast.
We are part of Zone 4, Region 3 which includes: Coastal Carolina University, Davidson College, Duke University, East Carolina University, Martin Community College, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, North Carolina State University, St. Andrews Presbyterian College, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of North Carolina at Charlotte and University of North Carolina at Wilmington. UNCET is open to riders of all levels through a tryout process. As a team, we focus on hunt seat and equitation, though all disciplines are welcome.

How to Join: Tryouts in the fall and potentially another round in the spring (exact dates TBD)

Dues: Annual dues are $1,000 ($500 per semester) which cover most costs (lessons, entry fees, coaching fees, etc). There are additional costs for things such as IHSA and NCHJA memberships, merchandise, gas for your lesson driver, senior gifts, etc., totaling less than $100 per year.

Practice Days & Times: Arranged on student schedules (1 hour lessons/practice per week)

Practice Location: Oak Hill Hunter Jumpers (2929 Dick Holeman Road, Timberlake, NC 27583)

Competitive Season: Fall/Spring

Competition Level: National

National Governing Body: Intercollegiate Horse Show Association

Recent Accomplishments:

  • Qualified and sent five riders to Regionals
  • Qualified and sent two riders to Zones
  • Hosted a successful IHSA home show and an IHSA vs IEA inter-barn show
