Programs
Outdoor Education, located at the Outdoor Education Center (OEC), includes two main areas: a low (team building) and high challenge course and an expedition program (including WAFFYS, a special opportunity for first year students). Each program offers students, university groups, and outdoor enthusiasts a variety of invigorating and empowering opportunities in outdoor education through a process of experiential learning, or "learning by doing." The OEC is a 20-acre wooded, green space -- just a short, 10 minute walk from the Student Union. Carolina Fitness offers fitness orientations, personal training, special events, and a variety of group exercise classes to help you reach your fitness potential. Two facilities, the Student Recreation Center and the Rams Head Recreation Center, are available with cardiovascular/weight training equipment and group exercise studios. Our staff welcomes the opportunity to help you. Employee Recreation provides UNC-CH faculty/staff and their respective spouses who have paid their Gym & Pool Privileges access to the Student Recreation Center and Rams Head Recreation Center. In addition, Gym & Pool Privilege holders can participate in Intramural Sports, Outdoor Education and use the Bowman Gray Indoor Pool. Intramural Sports offer a variety of recreational and competitive activities for all skill levels. Whether it is flag football, kickball, innertube water polo, or indoor soccer, Intramural Sports has something for you! All intramurals include divisions for men, women, and co-recreational (men and women playing on the same team). With one game a week and no practice, intramurals can easily fit into your schedule (games are usually played Sunday through Thursday in the evening). To get involved in any of the 40+ intramurals, submit an entry form in 101 Student Recreation Center. Sport Clubs include over 50 active clubs. The clubs range from being recreational and instructional to highly competitive, yet all are united by the common goal of creating an environment that fosters student development and leadership through sport. Clubs typically practice two to three times per week, and often travel to other universities to compete and further enhance their skills. The world of Carolina Campus Recreation awaits you! |
