BECOME A GROUP FITNESS INSTRUCTOR
If you’re already nationally certified & have experience teaching…
Download and submit an application to Fitness Coordinator, Dan Marshall. You need a general group fitness certification to teach most classes (AFAA, ACE, NASM, etc), and a specialty certification to teach Yoga, Pilates, Indoor Cycle, or Zumba. Once you have submitted an application, an interview and audition will be scheduled. Click here to complete an application.

Course offering: PHYA 401
When: Mondays & Wednesdays, 4:00-4:50pm
Where: Woollen Gym 301
- FITP is a 50 hour (20 theoretical and 30 practical) program that prepares interested students to teach safe, effective, and motivating classes.
- Trainees receive training on exercise instruction fundamentals including physiology, biomechanics, class format and design, and the skill of teaching.
- Trainees will be paired with a current instructor and team teach at least once a week (for 4 to 5 weeks).
- Once trainees have received Fitness Instructor Training Program (FITP) Certificate of Completion, they will be eligible to interview & audition.
BECOME A PERSONAL TRAINER
Are you interested in becoming a personal trainer? Campus Recreation offers a Personal Trainer Training Program (non-credit). This program prepares teaches you how to understand and apply the basic principles of exercise training to become a personal trainer. Trainees receive training on exercise instruction fundamentals including physiology, anatomy and program design.
Cost: $150
When: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4:00-5:00pm
